Best practices for
Water-based Ink Printing
1/ Conditions for Product Use
Considering stability and controllability, water-based ink is suitable for printing speeds up to 220 meters per minute, making it ideal for second and third-tier brand products and small to medium-sized enterprises without the need for additional facilities like wind reduction or concentration-increasing devices or RTO installations.
The drying tunnel is recommended to be long, with an increased temperature (60 ~ 80 °C) and enhanced airflow at 5000 cubic meters per hour. Please use light plates with a depth of around 28 micrometers, a needle angle of 130 ~ 140 degrees, and a screen ruling of 90 ~ 80 lines.
2/ Product Guidelines
To fully realize the performance of Qinghe water-based gravure ink, we recommend using 95% ethanol for dilution:
Reduce drying time: Ethanol lowers the surface tension of the ink, promoting ink spreading and faster drying, thus improving printing speed.
Enhance wetting and leveling: An optimized ink-to-ethanol dilution ratio (1:0.5 to 1:1) can improve ink flow and adhesion, producing smooth, consistent printing on various substrates.
Please note that ethanol evaporates slowly in water. The addition of ethanol should be minimized during printing to avoid over-dilution, which can affect ink performance. Here are some tips for maintaining the best balance:
Add small amounts: Only add ethanol when needed, not as a routine operation.
Prioritize ink replenishment: When color adjustment is needed, it is often sufficient to replenish new ink, reducing the use of ethanol.
Stop when necessary: Avoid over-dilution to prevent affecting ink performance.
Qinghe water-based gravure ink can help you achieve vivid, high-quality printing while staying environmentally conscious. Embrace the power of water, and choose Qinghe!
